‍ ‍Rei-Ki

Reiki is a very gentle laying-on-of-hands energy healing modality. It works by channeling innately intelligent Universal Life Force Energy (which surrounds & runs through all things) bringing greater harmony & peace to one's body, mind, & spirit.

The term Rei (Universal) -Ki (life force) is a Japanese word. Yet this Universal, highly intelligent energy is known by many names around the world & throughout the ages: Chi or Qi in China, Prana in Indian traditions, Mana in Polynesian culture, Orenda in some Native American cultures, Orgone, (A)ether or Bioplasma in more psychological and scientific contexts… just to name a few.

We obviously all have this life force running through us, but it can be functioning at greater or lesser degrees depending on our state of mind & health.

A Reiki practitioner (having received attunements) simply acts as a more focused conduit during a treatment, connecting to this source of Universal Life-giving Energy (through grounding & connecting to the Earth & Sky), while allowing ‘Ki' to flow more freely & abundantly.

Put simply, Reiki connects us more consciously to the unified field or All-that-is. Some refer to this as Zero point energy, the cosmic energy matrix/ a web of light, or Infinite oneness field.

We are essentially dropping into a deeper brainwave frequency (like in all of my sessions) because as we let go & relax into a meditative, deeper brainwave entrainment state, our body, mind, & spirit are able to enter a naturally calm place of peace; sometimes we just need assistance getting there!

During this experience, a client typically experiences a sense of deeper ease & relaxation, a clearer mind & lightness of being. It usually feels as though they've entered a calm & rather blissful meditative state. In this place, there is a bolstering of both the clients & the practitioners energy fields, allowing for greater ease & flow, a clearing of blockages, & typically a greater sense of peace, relaxation, & connection to oneself & others. Clients will often experience a tangible feeling of heat (or even sometimes cold) on certain areas. Many people’s nervous systems’ unwind so much they fall asleep.

Reiki is done clothed, and because it is most often in silence, it can be incredibly healing to the entire mind/body & central nervous system. It helps re-set the ‘fight, flight, or freeze’ response we so often (unconsciously & habitually) get caught up in during our busy & frenetic lives! By quieting the busy mind & deeply relaxing the entire body, restorative healing and a truly peaceful presence can be achieved.

I will also use crystals & other tools (as called to do so) during your treatment.

From the International Center for Reiki Training:

“ When our Ki is high, we feel strong, confident, and ready to enjoy life, as well as, take on its challenges. When it is low, we feel weak and are more likely to get sick.

We can receive Ki  from the air we breathe, from food, sunshine, nature, sleep, exercise, spiritual practices, laughter, etc. It is also possible to increase our Ki by using breathing exercises and meditation. When we die, our Ki  leaves our physical body...

So what a Reiki practitioner does, in the most basic terms, is interpret and redirect Ki  throughout the body. This can be done in person, or from a distance, with the subject of the healing practice in mind. Some people describe the experience of Reiki healing as a tangible sense of warmth coming over the entire body and a feeling of ease and peace pervading the mind and spirit, even when the healing takes place at a distance. Patients often describe a relief from pain for some time following a healing session. With sustained treatment, many say they experience improved overall health, quality of sleep, sense of spiritual or intuitive connection, and mental, emotional balance.”
